Responsibilities
- Drive the technical vision for the Product Eligibility domain within an autonomous team.
- Build and maintain platform capabilities, back-office tooling, and occasional customer-facing flows.
- Help overhaul how Wise captures and validates customer residence, location, and address information.
- Design, deploy, and maintain clean RESTful APIs.
- Work with relational and non-relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.
- Write testable code, participate in code reviews, and follow best coding practices and Test Driven Development.
- Collaborate with product managers, analysts, and engineers to prioritize customer-focused solutions.
Requirements
- Experience working with large-scale distributed systems.
- Years of experience with Java 8 or later.
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and schema design.
- A strong product mindset and focus on customer experience and data-driven decision-making.
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Preferred experience with Spring Boot, Kafka, and Backend-for-Frontends.
- Willingness to learn additional skills and collaborate effectively with others.
Benefits
- Starting salary of £87,500–£111,000 per year.
- Hybrid work arrangement; the role operates across Wise’s London and Cherkasy offices.
- Candidates must already be based in, or able to work from, the UK because relocation support is unavailable.
