Responsibilities
- Drive the technical vision, multi-year strategy, architecture, and roadmap for world-understanding software including perception, mapping, and sensor fusion.
- Develop and deploy state-of-the-art multimodal, multitask, supervised or unsupervised, and temporal ML models for varied sensor configurations.
- Lead project execution, technical design reviews, engineering processes, risk mitigation, and organizational metrics for performance, safety, and quality.
- Build component- and system-level validation strategies using simulation, continuous integration, code review, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and in-vehicle testing.
- Collaborate with data, planning, control, HMI, developer ecosystem, product delivery, hardware, and global stakeholder teams.
- Mentor engineers and technical leads while contributing to papers, patents, presentations, and high-impact cross-functional technical solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience with machine learning applications or applied science.
- MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
- Deep expertise in ML algorithms, frameworks, data-driven methods, supervised and unsupervised learning, multimodality, multitask training, temporal or sequential modeling, and large-scale ML deployment.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks, temporal data or sequential modeling, production code quality, systems safety processes, and model validation.
- Strong practical understanding of real-time systems, performance tradeoffs, testing modalities, and complex systems architecture.
- Ability to write production code in C++ and Python and lead globally distributed teams.
- Preferred qualifications include autonomous-driving ML deployment, computer vision, robot motion planning, planner ML system design, top-tier research publications, and Japanese language skills.
