Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support backend services, APIs, integrations, and data-driven solutions.
- Build scalable, secure, resilient microservices and distributed systems using service-oriented and event-driven architecture patterns.
- Design backend integrations, data models, asynchronous processing, API contracts, and event-driven communication patterns.
- Translate business and product requirements into maintainable, performant, secure technical solutions.
- Participate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews, code reviews, and the full software development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot complex development and integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement technical solutions.
- Automate builds, testing, code quality, and deployment pipelines.
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, design discussions, code reviews, documentation, demos, and knowledge sharing.
- Evaluate backend technologies and engineering practices and recommend improvements.
- Own assigned features from technical design through implementation, testing, documentation, and handoff.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in software development or a related field.
- At least 4 years of backend development experience, including microservices, APIs, middleware, database technologies, integrations, or DevOps.
- At least 4 years delivering solutions through iterative software development lifecycle practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
- Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and modern backend frameworks.
- Experience designing RESTful APIs, service contracts, backend integrations, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong understanding of system design, distributed systems, solution architecture, relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, query optimization, persistence, caching, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience with messaging or streaming platforms such as Kafka and with cloud-native applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of application security, authentication, authorization, API security, data protection, and secure software development practices.
- Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, GraphQL, gRPC, Terraform, CloudFormation, Maven, Gradle, Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab, JUnit, Mockito, Test Containers, Wire Mock, JMeter, Gatling, K6, Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, and Redis is desired.
- Experience with retail, commerce, order management, customer, product, pricing, enterprise integration, AI/LLM, MCP, AI agents, or agentic AI frameworks is desired.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, mentoring, and continuous-learning skills.
