Base Salary
$100k - $171k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and design digital products, backend services, REST APIs, and large-scale distributed systems.
- Provide technical input during planning, collaborate with product managers, and participate in standups and retrospectives.
- Coach teammates and lead paired programming, test-driven development, and comprehensive testing practices.
- Establish continuous integration, delivery, and deployment pipelines and practices.
- Provide system design and architecture leadership while building shared team ownership of technical decisions.
- Observe and monitor production systems, analyze logs and traces, and manage responses to outages and errors.
- Support production systems in a large-scale distributed environment, including likely participation in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Design and develop REST APIs with Java Spring Boot, including documentation, versioning, service discovery, testing, and management tooling.
- Have hands-on experience making architectural decisions and delivering large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments.
- Have backend development experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, caching, and event-driven systems such as Kafka.
- Have deep experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing and test-driven development.
- Have experience with web and API security, including authentication, authorization, OAuth, OWASP, OpenID, and SAML.
- Have experience with Git or GitHub, artifact management, Maven or Gradle, npm, Artifactory, and Jenkins or comparable tools.
- Have experience with Docker or Podman containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Have experience working in XP or Agile environments, including pairing, and solving performance, resiliency, and messaging problems.
- Have experience with production support and tools such as Splunk, Datadog, and CloudWatch.
- Have five or more years of experience and demonstrated technical leadership.
- Preferred qualifications include Python, AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, enterprise routing and load balancing, insurance or other finance-critical domain experience, and payments or payment gateways.
