Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable backend services powering Disney’s programmatic advertising platforms.
- Write code for new features and optimize existing services.
- Contribute to distributed-systems design, architectural decisions, and solutions spanning partner teams.
- Improve system performance, reliability, resiliency, observability, and operational metrics.
- Ensure code quality through testing, CI/CD pipelines, maintainable coding practices, and code reviews.
- Participate in task breakdown, estimation, scrum ceremonies, progress communication, on-call rotation, production support, monitoring, and incident investigation.
- Perform code reviews and mentor engineers through technical coaching and design reviews.
- Lead complex initiatives involving cloud-native systems, AI orchestration, and scalable, production-ready AI workloads.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems.
- Strong hands-on proficiency in Java or Python.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or Postgres.
- Experience designing API-driven architectures and integrating model-serving or external services across cloud environments.
- Strong engineering fundamentals in testing, CI/CD, and maintainable code practices.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, collaboration, teamwork, ownership, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Preferred: experience operating large-scale distributed systems and exposure to high-throughput or low-latency systems.
- Preferred: experience with Spring Boot or similar backend frameworks; streaming or event-driven systems such as Kafka or Kinesis; containerized infrastructure such as Docker and Kubernetes; and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
