Responsibilities
- Design solutions for domestic real-time payments, ACH payments, and digital merchant acquiring.
- Produce component integration designs, migration plans, and new design patterns.
- Provide design governance and oversight for architecture proposed by colleagues and other team members.
- Redesign existing applications with minimal code changes to improve resilience and availability.
- Design for non-functional requirements including throughput, security, encryption, scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Assess infrastructure component sizing against long-term business requirements.
- Present design options and options papers to senior and junior stakeholders and seek consensus.
- Champion architecture controls with project managers, infrastructure SMEs, and security experts.
- Lead customer-centric design principles that improve operational ease and reduce manual effort.
Requirements
- 15+ years of IT experience, preferably including at least 3 years as a solution designer.
- Strong transactional-domain experience in payments, insurance, or cards.
- Strong technical knowledge of cloud-based and microservices-based solutions.
- Experience with API security in production-class customer-facing or internal systems.
- Knowledge of resilient, scalable, secure, and performant microservices architectures.
- Expertise with SFTP, Connect Direct, TCP Sockets, and HTTP REST API integration protocols.
- Strong Kafka experience is mandatory.
- Experience with service design and service orchestration using microservices.
- Ability to articulate design options, create options papers, present to stakeholders, and build consensus.
- Ability to develop innovative solutions when the target state cannot be delivered in the first iteration.
