Lead Performance QA Engineer

Responsibilities
- Own performance engineering activities across multiple releases and product roadmaps.
- Define performance-testing scope, workload models, success criteria, and capacity-planning requirements.
- Design and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, scalability, spike, and capacity tests.
- Validate and optimize Kubernetes-based microservices, Kafka messaging systems, APIs, databases, caching layers, and Spark workloads.
- Perform root-cause analysis of CPU, memory, thread, garbage-collection, network, database, cache, and messaging bottlenecks.
- Analyze Kafka consumer lag, throughput, partition distribution, batching efficiency, and message-processing latency.
- Analyze API latency, throughput, concurrency, error rates, and service-level objectives.
- Investigate Spark batch and streaming performance, including executor utilization, partitioning, shuffles, memory management, and query plans.
- Investigate production, pre-production, and customer-reported performance issues and provide actionable recommendations.
- Create scalable test-data generation frameworks, automation utilities, scripts, and performance-engineering tools.
- Mentor performance engineers and establish performance-engineering best practices.
- Provide performance status updates, risk assessments, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in performance testing and performance engineering.
- Proven experience leading performance initiatives for enterprise-scale applications.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes, containerized environments, microservices, Apache Kafka, API performance testing, Redis, Oracle Database, Elasticsearch, Apache Spark, and Linux system performance analysis.
- Experience with one or more performance-testing tools: JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner, k6, Locust, or BlazeMeter.
- Hands-on experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, Elastic Stack, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or OpenTelemetry.
- Strong scripting or programming experience with Python, Java, or similar programming languages.
- Ability to collaborate with development, architecture, operations, support, and customer-facing teams.
