Responsibilities
- Own technical decision-making for supported teams through technology evaluations, POCs, benchmarks, architectural recommendations, partition strategies, migration plans, and performance validation.
- Shape platform-level architecture for Kubernetes deployments, Kafka messaging, durable workflow orchestration, multi-tenant data models, and cloud-native SaaS systems.
- Review technical designs, code, RFCs, and architecture artifacts for Java and .NET product teams and guide scalability and cloud-readiness improvements.
- Mentor engineers across teams and improve shared engineering standards, including GitOps, golden pipelines, observability, and supply-chain security.
- Assess on-premises products for scalability, resiliency, code quality, interoperability, security, dependencies, and migration readiness while maintaining on-premises delivery.
- Partner with Product Management, Support, and Professional Services to incorporate customer and field issues into architecture recommendations.
- Design, build, and improve backend systems and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, JDK 21+, and .NET.
- Create shared libraries, tooling, and examples and apply unit, integration, and performance testing.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem, plus hands-on C#/.NET experience and strong architectural judgment.
- Working familiarity with Active Directory and Entra ID, including domain services, LDAP, authentication protocols, and directory data models.
- Experience with Windows-centric on-premises products and dual on-premises and SaaS delivery constraints.
- Production Kubernetes experience covering service design, Helm/GitOps deployment, jobs, autoscaling, and multi-tenant SaaS operations.
- Distributed-data experience with partitioning, consistency trade-offs, high-volume ingestion/ETL, query tuning, and relational databases at scale such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
- Exposure to at least one analytical or NoSQL store and experience with event-driven architecture such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience with API-first design, resilience practices, observability, RFCs, design documentation, and influencing teams without direct management responsibility.
- Nice-to-have experience with Go, Azure, workflow engines such as Temporal, Spring Reactive, and identity security areas such as ITDR, privileged access management, or identity governance.
