Responsibilities
- Own and modernize Taiwan Coupang core systems across multiple engineering domains.
- Identify system risks, establish technical strategies and roadmaps, and lead execution as a staff engineer, tech lead, and architect.
- Improve system resilience and build tools, monitoring, and testing environments for engineering efficiency.
- Develop and maintain user-facing shopping features.
- Optimize the performance and scalability of high-traffic systems handling complex workflows and large volumes of concurrent users.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver reliable consumer experiences.
- Write robust, maintainable code using modern frameworks and technologies, considering usability, accessibility, and responsiveness.
- Use data-driven insights, A/B testing, and customer feedback to improve the platform and business outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, mathematics, or an equivalent field.
- At least 7 years of experience with fundamental algorithms, system design, and large distributed systems.
- At least 5 years of coding experience in Java or a similar language.
- Hands-on experience building large-scale real-time services.
- Experience creating a vision, influencing cross-functionally, and driving a technology organization toward ambitious goals.
- Ability to deliver software products and make appropriate trade-offs in an environment with rapidly changing requirements.
- Strong ownership, urgency, drive, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working closely with globally distributed teams.
- Preferred: experience establishing team culture and maintaining code quality across a team.
- Preferred: understanding of operational excellence and running and monitoring highly available systems.
- Preferred: experience working with AWS technologies such as S3, Kafka, and EMR.
- Preferred: ability to challenge existing norms respectfully and work effectively in multicultural, cross-functional teams.
