Responsibilities

  • Lead software design, development, and testing for two to four mission-critical projects.
  • Define software requirements, architecture, deliverables, and project-level technical direction.
  • Guide development teams building cloud-native applications, web front ends, scalable back ends, secure pipelines, and event-driven solutions.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point through code reviews, issue resolution, and adherence to project goals.
  • Establish and standardize software development practices, tools, frameworks, and workflows across projects.
  • Implement secure coding, vulnerability scanning, continuous testing, and deployment practices.
  • Write key code, resolve complex technical challenges, and create architectural proofs of concept as needed.
  • Collaborate with program leadership, technical leads, subject matter experts, stakeholders, and engineers across disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 18 or more years of software development experience; alternatively, a master’s degree with 16 or more years or a PhD with 15 or more years.
  • At least 7 years of back-end and/or front-end development experience.
  • Expertise in cloud-native architecture and AWS, Azure, DAF Cloudworks, and GCP.
  • Proficiency with Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Helm.
  • Experience building GraphQL APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures using Kafka and RabbitMQ.
  • Experience automating pipelines with testing, security scanning, and deployment workflows.
  • Knowledge of JMeter, Selenium, and Jest for unit and end-to-end testing.
  • At least 3 years leading software development teams across two to four projects or prototypes simultaneously.
  • At least 3 years working with government, defense, and intelligence project requirements and processes.
  • Experience establishing consistent standards and quality practices with program leadership, technical leads, and subject matter experts.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect are preferred.
