Responsibilities
- Design and evolve backend systems powering real-time collaborative document editing for tens of thousands of concurrent users.
- Own the content model and data persistence layer, including schema design, migrations, compatibility, and maintainability.
- Build and maintain Kafka- and NATS-based event-driven pipelines that process frontend interactions and maintain consistent document state.
- Contribute to the reliability, observability, and operational excellence of a large fleet of Python microservices.
- Ship product features end-to-end from backend architecture through production monitoring.
- Contribute to AI-powered capabilities, including agentic document workflows.
Requirements
- 5+ years of production Python development experience.
- Strong experience with relational databases, SQL, schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with message queues and event-driven architectures such as Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar.
- Deep understanding of AsyncIO and concurrent systems.
- Experience building and operating microservice architectures at scale.
- Ability to reason about distributed systems, including consistency, ordering, and failure modes.
- Understanding of the full development lifecycle from requirements through deployment and production monitoring.
- Experience building or integrating AI agents, LLM-powered workflows, or agentic systems is preferred.
- Effective oral and written English communication skills.
