Base Salary
$182k - $242k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and design for large-scale initiatives across backend systems, CMS platforms, video workflows, advertising systems, and monetization platforms.
- Define scalable, secure, and maintainable cloud-native solutions and coordinate delivery across multiple engineering teams.
- Architect video transcoding, metadata ingestion, FAST channel, catalog export, batch processing, scheduling, and advertising workflows.
- Represent Xumo’s technical architecture with external partners and vendors and guide third-party integrations.
- Establish reliability, observability, scalability, and security practices in partnership with DevOps.
- Maintain a 2–5 year architectural roadmap and drive research, innovation, and technology exploration.
- Mentor engineers, improve architectural standards, document technical decisions, and communicate with executive, product, and business stakeholders.
- Work a variable schedule that may include nights and weekends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; Comcast may consider coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience instead.
- 15+ years of relevant work experience, including 10+ years as a software engineer focused on Java backend development.
- At least 5 years designing and delivering distributed, cloud-native systems at scale, ideally involving Google Cloud.
- Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or in an equivalent technical leadership role.
- Experience leading large, cross-team initiatives independently over multi-month timelines.
- Expertise with Java, the Spring ecosystem, microservices, distributed systems, cloud platforms, messaging, data stores, security, networking, and observability.
- Experience aligning technical investments with executive, product, and business stakeholders.
- Experience evaluating and integrating third-party platforms in complex enterprise ecosystems.
- Strong leadership, communication, mentoring, debugging, production troubleshooting, Linux, command-line, scripting, and Git workflow skills.
- Preferred experience with video delivery for ad-supported environments, adaptive streaming, manifest manipulation, DRM, server-side ad insertion, CMS scheduling, metadata systems, digital advertising platforms, and programmatic advertising.

- Base pay is supplemented by Comcast benefits and, for most non-sales positions, an eligible bonus.
- The role is office-based in Irvine, CA; Philadelphia, PA; or Englewood, CO, four days per week with one remote day.
- The position may require nights, weekends, and variable schedules.
