Responsibilities
- Collaborate as an embedded engineering liaison among enterprise clients, product managers, architects, and core software teams.
- Identify deployment and migration blockers, build and test field fixes, and turn customer feedback into prioritized platform features.
- Own customer engagements from pre-migration discovery through production rollout and operational stabilization.
- Write production code, build manifests, debug networking, storage, and GPU failures, and optimize VKS performance in live environments.
- Architect and operate VKS clusters across VMware Cloud Foundation, hybrid cloud, and competing Kubernetes environments.
- Lead migrations from bare-metal, legacy, and stateful platforms to VKS or cloud-native Kubernetes.
- Deploy and scale AI inference, RAG, vector search, model-serving, data-processing, and distributed AI workloads.
- Containerize and re-platform messaging, caching, data, analytics, and risk-calculation engines.
- Apply Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes Operators, Cluster API, and GitOps for infrastructure and platform delivery.
Requirements
- 12+ years of related experience.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant years of experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
- Experience working within or alongside core software or R&D organizations rather than purely in IT or professional services.
- Proven experience leading long-term, complex engineering engagements with customer technical leadership and developers.
- Ability to translate field requirements and workarounds into product specifications and feature requests.
- Hands-on experience with GPU-accelerated Kubernetes nodes, model-serving runtimes, vector databases, and distributed AI orchestration.
- Experience containerizing and operating high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems, stateful workloads, messaging platforms, and analytics engines.
- Deep knowledge of cloud-native data, AI, batch, real-time processing, orchestration, workflow, query, NoSQL, and vector technologies.
- Technical depth across enterprise Kubernetes distributions including OpenShift, EKS, GKE, AKS, or Rancher RKE/RKS.
- Advanced skills in Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes Operators, Cluster API, ArgoCD, and Flux.
