Base Salary
$176k - $196k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and operate the RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, ElastiCache Redis/Valkey, and DynamoDB fleet, including replication, failover, capacity, and engine strategy.
- Build tenant-safe SDKs in Go, Java, and Python to enforce multi-tenant data isolation.
- Own production database upgrades and Terraform state changes across hundreds of clusters with zero customer-facing impact.
- Build and scale Kafka/MSK streaming infrastructure, including topic architecture, consumer patterns, and blue/green deployments.
- Develop database and cache observability with SLI dashboards, tenant-dimensioned telemetry, and real-time performance insights.
- Partner with product and platform teams on scaling readiness, infrastructure migrations, and difficult production incidents.
- Lead cross-team operational programs involving change management, migration coordination, and rollback planning.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and operating distributed systems, including production-scale PostgreSQL or a similar managed database in AWS.
- Experience building shared tooling such as SDKs, client libraries, or platform APIs.
- Ability to write Go or ramp quickly, with comfort using Terraform, Kubernetes, and IAM-heavy AWS environments.
- Experience leading cross-team operational programs, including change management, migration coordination, and rollback planning.
- Preferred experience with multi-tenant isolation techniques such as key prefixing, row-level security, and RBAC/ACL models.
- Preferred experience operating Kafka/MSK at scale, including consumer lag, partition rebalancing, and cross-account IAM authentication.
- Preferred experience building or contributing to database and cache observability platforms.
