Base Salary
$150k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve high-throughput services for bidding logic, auction mechanics, traffic shaping, and creative/image processing.
- Write maintainable, tested code and operate production services with meaningful metrics, traces, alerts, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Use and evaluate AI coding assistants while applying engineering judgment to validate production code.
- Research AI/ML-driven optimizations and agentic capabilities and translate promising ideas into production systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, data science, and platform teams across New York City and Zurich on architecture, code review, observability, and incident response.
- Lead cross-team and cross-region technical initiatives, write design documents, drive architectural consensus, and mentor engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend services operating at scale.
- Demonstrated experience building high-performance Java APIs and services handling large volumes of network traffic under strict latency requirements.
- Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, caching, backpressure, fault tolerance, observability, event-driven non-blocking JVM frameworks, and JVM performance tuning.
- Experience with in-memory key-value stores, messaging systems, NoSQL and specialized low-latency key-value stores at high QPS, and services deployed across multiple AWS regions or comparable cloud environments.
- Working fluency with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or comparable AI coding assistants.
- Experience with Apache Spark, Snowflake, and Redpanda, plus familiarity with OpenRTB, VAST, or related advertising protocols.
- Track record of leading cross-team or cross-region technical initiatives, writing design documents, and driving architectural decisions to consensus.
- Strong communication, collaboration, organization, problem-solving, adaptability, ownership, and continuous-learning skills.
