Responsibilities
- Own the design and technical direction of broad, complex integrations with carriers, customers, third-party APIs, and regulatory data providers.
- Manage integration lifecycles and drive monitoring, operations, reliability, and continuous improvement for owned systems.
- Design data-consistency and change-propagation solutions, including event-driven changelog and CDC pipelines for downstream consumers.
- Build resilient Java-based cloud systems that handle rate limits, retries, circuit breaking, and large-scale real-time or near-real-time workloads.
- Lead cross-team technical discussions, align with business stakeholders, communicate standards, and secure agreement on solutions.
- Share ownership of development, operations, testing, code quality, maintainability, monitoring, automation, and on-call support.
- Mentor engineers across teams and contribute to team and organization-wide technical strategy.
Requirements
- At least 9 years of professional experience building large-scale, real-time or near-real-time cloud systems.
- Deep proficiency in Java with strong programming and debugging skills.
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of technical solutions and leadership of execution across a team.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or other cloud environments such as Azure.
- Experience creating scalable Java-based microservices and making architecture decisions affecting multiple teams.
- Experience with SQL databases such as Postgres, document stores such as MongoDB, and event or stream-processing systems such as Kafka or Kinesis.
- Experience with change-data-capture or changelog publishing patterns, API and web-service development, REST, and OpenAPI/Swagger.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is desirable.
- Experience with DynamoDB, MongoDB, Postgres, security strategy, complex codebases, mentoring, and influencing technical direction is helpful.
