Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and review proposed solutions across applications development projects.
  • Lead architecture, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and technical delivery for enterprise applications.
  • Guide modernization of monolithic and mainframe applications into portable, event-driven microservices and interoperable distributed systems.
  • Establish design patterns, architectural guidance, technical standards, and adherence to global architecture principles.
  • Lead teams in documenting technical requirements, code specifications, test plans, results, and other project deliverables.
  • Improve application scalability, reliability, stability, recovery, performance, and operating costs through instrumentation, optimization, and tuning.
  • Lead and mentor engineers and distributed teams while fostering technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Drive adoption of TDD/BDD practices, automated development processes, and high-quality software delivery.
  • Assess technical and business risks, maintain compliance with applicable policies and regulations, and escalate control issues appropriately.

Requirements

  • Graduate or postgraduate degree in engineering or computer science.
  • 12–15 years of hands-on experience in technical design and delivery of enterprise applications, particularly in Cards and Payments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and directing software engineering or development teams.
  • Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, Spring, Spring Boot, microservices, API integrations, databases, messaging technologies, version control, CI/CD, deployment tooling, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience integrating or transforming enterprise mainframe systems and working with transaction-processing applications is strongly valued.
  • Experience with SOAP or REST web services, Open APIs, Kafka or Solace, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Cloud, AWS S3, and ELK is required or desired across the listed competencies.
  • Experience with DB2, Oracle, MongoDB, IBM z/OS, COBOL, JCL, CICS, VSAM, and SYSPLEX/CICSPLEX environments is valuable.
  • Experience with performance tuning, recovery, stability, reliability, scalability, automated testing, and development-process automation.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, time-management, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum teams, Cards and Payments industry fundamentals, payment trends, and practical use of AI and prompt-engineering tools is preferred.
