Base Salary
$159k - $262k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the observability stack, tooling, and instrumentation standards across the codebase.
- Partner with SRE, platform, and engineering teams to embed observability practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Design and implement service instrumentation and improve observability data quality.
- Evaluate and implement observability tools including Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Tempo, and Victoria Metrics.
- Collaborate with UI and UX designers on observability dashboards and visualizations.
- Develop and maintain OLAP databases, Kafka, ETL pipelines, and streaming platforms for observability data processing.
- Explore graph databases, ontologies, semantic layers, and knowledge bases for observability and knowledge-base capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance, participate in code reviews, and promote observability best practices.
- Lead and mentor observability experts when needed.
Requirements
- Expert knowledge of Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Tempo, and Victoria Metrics.
- Experience with OLAP databases, Kafka, ETL pipelines, and streaming platforms such as Spark and Flink.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing code.
- Experience with Kubernetes and cloud technologies.
- Understanding of distributed systems and AI infrastructure at scale.
- Proven experience implementing and optimizing observability stacks in large-scale projects.
- Familiarity with graph databases, ontologies, semantic layers, and knowledge bases is advantageous.
- Ability to lead adoption of observability practices and collaborate across engineering teams.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Experience leading and mentoring observability experts is desirable.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred.
