Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and PostgreSQL.
- Set API standards covering RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and OAuth2.
- Build developer-friendly tools, SDKs, and reference implementations for major partners.
- Champion engineering practices, conduct code reviews, participate in domain-driven design, and mentor junior engineers.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Implementation Managers, Solutions Engineers, partner development teams, and decentralized engineering groups.
- Help align frontend and infrastructure teams with API standards and architecture patterns.
- Collaborate with global engineering hubs, including travel to the Tallinn office.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade public APIs using RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and OAuth2.
- Extensive experience with Java and Spring Boot for resilient backend microservices.
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka or similar messaging systems, and relational database design and optimization using PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Proficiency in domain-driven design, microservices patterns, and systems designed for high availability and low latency.
- A customer-centric product mindset balancing technical quality, business context, user experience, and cost efficiency.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, collaborate across business units, and adapt to feedback.
- Experience with financial-grade security standards, compliance, or international payment systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with frontend frameworks or infrastructure and gateway tooling is preferred.
- Experience maintaining open-source developer libraries, SDKs, or developer portals is preferred.
