Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and define architecture across client, SDK, gateway, and cloud backend systems.
- Own end-to-end real-time performance, including latency, audio quality, CPU and memory footprint, and uptime.
- Lead cross-team initiatives spanning SDK, backend, ML inference, and DevOps teams from planning through production.
- Write and review production code, prototype solutions, and resolve complex bugs across client, backend, and deployment layers.
- Create design documents and architecture decision records explaining technical decisions.
- Establish best practices for code quality, testing, observability, security, and operational excellence.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and help shape technical interviews and leveling.
- Partner with Product, Research/ML, Customer Success, and leadership on roadmaps, technical risks, and enterprise requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 8–12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant senior- or staff-level experience.
- Track record designing and shipping large-scale, low-latency systems used by real users in production.
- Deep expertise in one or more of Rust, Python, and Go, with strong distributed-systems and RESTful API design skills.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, preferably EKS, CI/CD, and modern observability tooling.
- Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL and ClickHouse.
- Ability to lead through influence, resolve technical disagreements, align stakeholders, and drive outcomes without formal authority.
- Clear written and verbal communication and sound judgment about long-term architecture versus pragmatic delivery.
- Preferred experience with real-time audio, speech, VoIP/SIP, WebRTC, telephony systems, production ML inference, cross-platform desktop or SDK development, Kafka, Terraform, high-growth scaling, and enterprise security or compliance requirements.
- Preferred contributions to open source, technical writing, or conference talks, and ability to use AI copilots such as Claude with spec-driven development methods.
