Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, integrations, extensions, and event-driven services using commercetools.
- Implement commercetools components including Product Catalog, Customers, Carts, Orders, Pricing, and Inventory.
- Develop custom middleware and integrate commercetools with PIM, CMS, ERP, OMS, and payment gateway systems.
- Ensure backend services are scalable, secure, performant, maintainable, and reusable.
- Troubleshoot and enhance existing backend services and integrations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
- Define and enforce backend development standards, coding practices, and technical guidelines.
- Translate business and functional requirements into scalable backend solutions.
- Conduct code reviews and participate in architecture reviews and technical decision-making.
- Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and solution architecture teams.
- Support automation, deployment, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automated testing initiatives.
- Create and maintain technical documentation covering architecture, API specifications, integration workflows, and implementation standards.
- Promote modular architecture, maintainable code, peer reviews, and continuous improvements to system stability and developer productivity.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with Node.js, Java, TypeScript, and composable commerce architecture.
- Senior-level hands-on experience with the commercetools platform, including APIs, GraphQL, custom extensions, subscriptions, and integrations.
- Experience developing, enhancing, and troubleshooting enterprise eCommerce solutions using composable commerce architecture.
- Strong knowledge of solution design and architecture for composable and headless commerce platforms.
- Strong experience with API-first and microservices-based systems, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and event-driven integrations.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Consulting experience and L3 or L4 support experience are advantageous.
